Bobby Gordon

Bobby Gordon (born June 29, 1941 in Hartford , Connecticut , † December 31, 2013 ) was an American clarinetist who played hot jazz .

Bobby Gordon is a student of Joe Marsala and influenced by Pee Wee Russell ; In 1962/63 he recorded three albums for the Dot label and played folk music and the music of Acker Bilk during this time . At the end of the 1960s, Max Kaminsky brought him to the New York jazz club Jimmy Ryan’s . In the early 1970s he made regular appearances at Eddie Condon ’s Club, worked with Wild Bill Davison in Chicago and then moved to San Diego . He was best known for his recordings for the Jump and Arbors labels and his collaboration with Marty Grosz in the Orphan Newsboys . On his albums he worked a. a. with Keith Ingham , Dan Barrett , Adele Girard , Scott Robinson , Dave McKenna , Tony DeNicola, and Bob Wilber ; In 2000 he accompanied Rebecca Kilgore . Gordon lived in the San Diego area, where he occasionally performed at jazz parties and festivals.

Bobby Gordon should not be confused with the late baritone saxophonist Bob Gordon .
