action

Harry Ready kills three hospital workers who refused immediate treatment in the emergency room for his five-year-old son, who subsequently died of a ruptured appendix. Ready-made attorney Roy Bleakie wants to plead incapacity, which the accountant rejects because he wants to atone for his deed.

Bleakie comforts Sarah Ready, Harry's wife, and spends a night with her. Fertigs Chef offers Bleakie 100,000 US dollars additional premium if the accountant as deranged is shown. Bleakie researches and finds that the contractor used contaminated soil to build a road near the reservoir that supplies New York with drinking water. Many of the people who did the job are terminally ill. The deterioration in water quality would force the city to commission $ 8 billion worth of filtration systems that cost $ 500 million annually in operating costs. The contract would benefit the company that finished working for.

Bleakie reports the entrepreneur. The district attorney says the spectacular case would secure his re-election. Bleakie was about to apply for the post, but he hands him the incriminating papers. Harry Ready pleads guilty and is sentenced to life imprisonment.

Reviews

“The high-profile court thriller 'The Confession' draws its tension from an original and profoundly told story. David Jones' […] thriller begins as a subtle family drama, then tells a highly unusual case of vigilante justice, only to end as a psychologically complex court drama. Ben Kingsley [...] convinces in the memorable main character next to Alec Baldwin [...], who makes the change from slippery cynic to responsible lawyer credible and understandable. "

“An interesting film in terms of the basic conflict, which could have been a reflection on law and justice, but which is too entangled in secondary conflicts. The complexity of the memorable main character is just as little used as the transformation of his slippery defender is made comprehensible. Although a lot of depth is given away, the film, staged on a well-kept television level, still stimulates discussion. "
