David Hugh Jones

David Hugh Jones (born February 19, 1934 in Poole , Dorset , † September 19, 2008 ) was a British film and theater director .

Career

Jones began his career in 1958 as a television director for the BBC . In 1961 he directed its first performances in London theaters. The following year he joined the Royal Shakespeare Company . In 1979 he moved to the Brooklyn Academy of Music .

From 1981, he turned to the BBC, the Shakespeare -pieces The Merry Wives of Windsor and Pericles, Prince of Tire , in 1983 he directed his first feature film , fraud , with Ben Kingsley in the lead role. This was followed by Between the Lines and The Trial with Anthony Hopkins , as well as Jacknife, with Robert De Niro in the leading role. From the mid-1990s, Jones directed episodes of various American television series. In 1994 he worked for the first time on Broadway , followed by two further engagements.
