Allah Rakha Rahman (Tamil: ஏ. ஆர். ரஹ்மான்; born January 6, 1966 in Madras, now Chennai ) is an Indian composer and singer. He writes film and light music .

Life

In India he is a big star and his concerts are very well attended. Particularly well-known songs are those he composed for Hindi films and Tamil films .

He created the music for the musical Bombay Dreams and worked with the English lyricist Don Black . It was very well received in London, but expired in 2005. It was also performed on Broadway after its success in London.

AR Rahman was born a Hindu and converted to Islam in 1989. He changed his name AS Dileep Kumar to AR Rahman .

For in New Delhi held Commonwealth Games 2010 composed AR Rahman the official song Jiyo Utho Bado Jeeto .

Awards

AR Rahman is a multiple winner of the National Film Award , the Filmfare Awards South , Filmfare Award , Star Screen Award , Zee Cine Award and the IIFA Award . For the film music for the international co-production Slumdog Millionär , he won the Golden Globe Award , the British Academy Film Award as well as two Oscars and two Grammys for the best film score and the best film song (together with Gulzar for Jai Ho ). After the great success of the film, both its film soundtrack and several songs from it entered the charts.

In 2010 he was honored with a Padma Bhushan . A year later, Rahman received another Golden Globe and two Oscar nominations for the score and the song If I Rise for Danny Boyle's drama 127 Hours (2010).

In 2011 the World Economic Forum in Davos awarded Rahman, together with Robert De Niro and José Carreras, the crystal prize for their “creative commitment to the challenges of the world”. Rahman was mainly honored for his commitment to starving and underprivileged children, which he supports with the help of the AR Rahman Foundation.
