Rangeela ( Hindi : रंगीला, translated: colored ) is a successful Bollywood film and made it into the top 5 most successful films from 1995 . The film brought director Ram Gopal Varma as well as actress Urmila Matondkar and the Oscar winner A. R. Rahman the breakthrough. This was also the first Hindi film for which AR Rahman composed the film music. The soundtrack was known and very popular across the country.
The film was also dubbed in Tamil , so the lyrics were also rewritten in Tamil. Which is why there are also two soundtrack versions.
action
The story is about a middle class girl named Mili, who dreams of gaining a foothold in Bollywood as an actress. So far she was only allowed to stand in front of the camera as a dancer. She is friends with the poor orphan boy Munna, who soon feels more for her. He would like to take her as his wife, but does not dare to reveal his feelings towards her.
One day, quite unexpectedly, Mili is actually discovered by the film star Raj Kamal, who hires her for the new film Rangeela by director Steven Kapoor. This leads to Munna becoming jealous of Raj, who then soon casts an eye on Mili. But Mili is too busy to notice. She prefers to invest her time in acting, as well as with Raj. Nevertheless Munna is always tempted to confess his love to her, and every time this project fails, because at the last second he loses courage or Raj shows up.
Eventually Munna gives up, comforting himself with the thought that Raj could offer her a better life. Mili only finds out about all of this on the day the film is released. She then asks Raj to help her find Munna. At that moment Raj realizes that Mili is already in love with Munna and leads them both back together.
