International Indian Film Academy Award
The International Indian Film Academy Awards ( IIFA Awards for short ) are awards from the Hindi film industry . They have been awarded annually at a gala event outside of India since 2000 .
The organizer is the event management company Wizcraft International Entertainment , which is also behind the IIFA. It has set itself the task of making Indian film (i.e. the Hindi film) known beyond India and establishing it on an international level.
The IIFA has been organized in the form of a foundation since 2003 and is supported by an advisory team made up of people from the film industry. This includes Amitabh Bachchan , Ramesh Sippy , Jyoti Prakash Dutta , Vinod Khanna , Jaya Bachchan , Pahlaj Nahalani , Shyam Shroff and David Dhawan .
The representatives of the Hindi film industry select the films and people for nomination. The winners will be determined in a worldwide public fan vote via MSN .
The price statuette is around 45 cm tall and made of brass with a 24-carat gold plating. It represents a sun. Two elongated rays symbolize the meeting of Indian film with world cinema, the nine sun rays represent the nine navrasas .
