Farah Khan
Farah Khan (born January 9, 1965 in Bombay ) is an Indian choreographer . She works in the Hindi film industry and is now directing films. Among them are the most famous Om Shanti Om , I'm always there for you! and Happy New Year - heart thieves .
biography
Farah Khan grew up in the film environment. Her late father Kamran Khan was a Bollywood - Director of the 50s and 60s, her brother is TV star and also recently Director. She never had any dance training and hadn't planned to get into the film business for a long time. Supposedly she was so fascinated by Michael Jackson's music video Thriller that she started dancing and founded her first dance group, The Sphinx . In 1992, Mansoor Khan hired her for his production Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar , thus enabling her to enter the film business.
Since then she had worked as a choreographer for many films. Especially with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. She made her breakthrough with the choreography for the song Chaiyya Chaiyya from the film Dil Se . Here she had a whole dance group dance with Shah Rukh Khan on a moving train.
Actually, Farah Khan always wanted to be a director and had her directorial debut with the successful film Main Hoon Na in 2004 with the help of Shah Rukh Khan (leading actor and producer) . With this film, she became the first woman to be nominated for best director at the Filmfare Awards .
She became known internationally through the choreographies of Monsoon Wedding , Bombay Dreams and Vanity Fair . She also worked with Shakira on the Bollywood version of her hit song Hips don´t lie for the MTV Video Music Awards on August 31, 2006.
She has been married to film editor Shirish Kunder since December 9, 2004 and gave birth to triplets in February 2008.
