action

Bombay in the 1970s: Om and his friend Pappu dream of becoming famous actors, but they are currently struggling with very small roles. Oms mother Bela, who once worked as a supporting actress, supports her son wherever she can and believes that he will make it to the hero of a large-scale production. Om also dreams of the screen goddess Shantipriya, whose life he saves while shooting a film and whose friend he becomes.

He soon realizes that he has no chance with her, because she is already married to the sleazy producer Mukesh Mehra. Mukesh tries hard to keep his relationship with Shantipriya a secret. But there is another reason for this, because Mukesh urgently needs money for his next film Om Shanti Om , which is financed by a rich businessman and Mukesh has to marry his daughter. This makes Shanti angry and she seeks justice and above all she longs for the love of Mukesh. Meanwhile, Om tries to avoid Shanti.

One night Om happened to see Shanti visiting the film sets accompanied by Mukesh. There Mukesh tells that he wants to make his marriage to Shanti public and also announces that the film Om Shanti Om will not be completed. In reality, he is upset with Shanti, who is responsible for his financial losses, and sets fire to the film sets with the intention of killing Shanti. Om sees Mukesh leaving the building without Shanti. After hearing some screams, Om tries to save Shanti, but is prevented from doing so by Mukesh's bodyguards. Soon the studio explodes and Shanti dies. Om, thrown out of the building by the explosion, is hit by a car that is on its way to the hospital for a delivery. Rakesh, the driver, immediately takes Om to the hospital. But for Om any help comes too late and he dies in the operating room, where he is reborn in the body of the child who is born at the same time.

30 years later, actor Om Kapoor begins to remember his former life as Om Makhija. While preparing to shoot in the burned film studios, Om remembers scenes from his past life.

After a party, Om meets Mukesh Mehra, who has become a well-known Hollywood producer for the past 25 years . Om is also fortunate to meet his former mother Bela and his then boyfriend Pappu.

To avenge Shanti's death, Om plans a remake of the film Om Shanti Om , with Mukesh as producer. During the audition for the role of Shanti, the film crew meets Sandy, who looks a lot like Shantipriya. Now Om Mukesh wants to play a prank and get him to confess Shanti's murder. So he lets him believe that Sandy is the spirit of Shanti. Strange things are actually happening that were not planned by Om. Finally Mukesh discovers Oms plan and also learns something about Sandy. So he confronts Om and they start an argument. Suddenly Shanti is standing on the stairs and tells Mukesh about the night Shanti was killed. Om wants to stop them because he thinks that Shanti in front of them is Sandy. But then she reveals details of Shanti's death that not even Om knew about. According to her accounts, Mukesh came back that unhappy night to bury Shanti's still-living body in the studio. When Sandy walks in the door, Om realizes that this is really Shanti's ghost. Shanti's ghost kills Mukesh by dropping the chandelier under which he buried her on him. In the end, Shanti's ghost says goodbye to Om in tears, runs up the stairs and disappears.
