Jeetendra (born April 7, 1942 in Mumbai ; real name: Ravi Kapoor ) is an Indian film actor and film producer . Together with Rajesh Khanna, he was one of the most sought-after actors in Hindi film in the pre- Bachchan era of the early 1970s .

biography

Jeetendra began his career in 1959 with small appearances in films by V. Shantarams . His activity increased in the 1970s, the romantic comedies with Mumtaz were box office hits and his dances were legendary. His most important films include Parichay (1972) - Gulzar's adaptation of the musical classic The Sound of Music (1965), Dharam Veer (1977) by Manmohan Desai and Himmatwala (1983) by K. Raghavendra Rao . In the 1980s Jeetendra worked in numerous financially successful, but artistically poor assembly line productions with South Indian actors. He often appeared on the side of Sridevi and played under the direction of K. Bapaiah or Dasari Narayana Rao .

For his appearances in more than 200 films to date, he was honored with a Filmfare Award for his life's work in 2003 .

family

Jeetendra is married to the actress and film producer Shobha Kapoor and has two children with her. He is the father of Tusshar Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor. Tusshar is an actor like his father and Ekta is a film producer like his mother.
