East Berbice-Corentyne is the eastern region of Guyana . It borders the Atlantic Ocean in the north, Suriname in the east, Brazil in the south and the regions Mahaica-Berbice , Upper Demerara-Berbice , Potaro-Siparuni and Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo in the west. In the region there are the cities of New Amsterdam , Corriverton , Mara and Rose Hall .

The Corantijn is the natural border with Suriname, in its southern course there are border conflicts with Suriname in the so-called New River Triangle .
