Lara Dutta (born April 16, 1978 in Ghaziabad , Uttar Pradesh ) is an Indian film actress and model .

Life

She moved to Bangalore with her family in 1981 , where she attended St. Francis Xavier Girls' High School and Frank Anthony Public School. She then studied economics at Bombay University .

After she won the Miss India election in 2000 , she took part in the Miss Universe election in Cyprus as the representative of her country and was able to assert herself there. The profit also included a contract with the cosmetics group L'Oréal . The media presence she gained was able to use the young Indian woman to enter the film industry and made her film debut in the Bollywood film Andaaz in 2003 . She received a Filmfare Award for best newcomer for her performance . Further supporting roles and guest appearances in smaller and larger Bollywood productions followed. She has already been in front of the camera with some well-known names in Indian films, such as Vivek Oberoi in Masti - affairs are not worth it! , Salman Khan in No Entry - Affair prohibited! , Aamir Khan in Fanaa or Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om , Billu Barber and Don - The King is back . She has also acted as a presenter for various award ceremonies in the Indian film industry, such as the Zee Cine Award .

On February 16, 2011, she married the Indian tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi .

On January 20, 2012, Dutta and her husband became parents to a daughter.
