Preity Zinta
Preity Zinta Singh ( Hindi , प्रीति ज़िंटा, Prīti Zinṭā, born January 31, 1975 in Shimla , Himachal Pradesh ) is an Indian film actress and model .
Life
When she was thirteen, her father was killed in a car accident, leaving her to support the family on her own.
Career
She began her career in the spotlight as a promotional model for "Lyril" soap and "Perk" chocolate. In the mid-1990s she auditioned for the film director Shekhar Kapur , who immediately considered her for a leading role. The planned project was never realized, however, as Kapur was already working on his film Elizabeth at the time and turned more towards the international film business.
Preity Zinta experienced her first and certainly most important appearance on the big screen in 1998 in Mani Ratnam's Whole Heart , which earned her the “Best Newcomer Award” that same year. This success was rewarded with some good role offers. Since then she has starred in the terrorist film Mission Kashmir , in the "Pretty Woman" variation Chori Chori Chupke Chupke , in the modern drama Dil Chahta Hai and in India's first science fiction film Star Child - Koi Mil Gaya , all of which were blockbuster hits .
With live and don't think about tomorrow (Kal Ho Naa Ho) she landed a particularly lucky hit: originally intended for the role of Naina was her colleague Kareena Kapoor , who could already be seen as spoiled sister “Poo” in good and bad days . However, when the producers did not want to respond to Kapoor's salary claim, she withdrew from the project. Preity Zinta gratefully took over and immediately won the Filmfare Award for best leading actress for her role in Live and Don't Think About Tomorrow . Her role as Ishqk in Ishqk in Paris , which was created in collaboration with a French company, did not go down well with critics and viewers.
Preity Zinta has also performed in many countries around the world on the 2004 world tour Temptations .
In 2004 she narrowly escaped death twice. Once on the Temptation tour in Colombo, Sri Lanka, when an explosion occurred. The second time during the tsunami in the Indian Ocean. In 2006 she appeared with Kajol on the fashion show "Freedom" by Indian designer Manish Malhotra .
