Happy New Year is a 2014 Bollywood film that starred Deepika Padukone, Shah Rukh Khan and Abhishek Bachchan. The film is directed by Farah Khan, who has previously directed blockbusters such as Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om . The film was released in German and Austrian cinemas shortly after its start in India , in the original version with German subtitles. Since March 20, 2015, Happy New Year has been available in German dubbed version from Rapid Eye Movies on DVD and Blu-Ray. On July 26, 2015, a shortened version of Happy New Year was broadcast on the German broadcaster RTL2. Happy New Year has the highest opening day earnings in Indian history.

Chandramohan Sharma, better known as Charlie, is a street fighter who seeks revenge on Charan Grover for his father. He has a brilliant plan to steal the Shalimar diamonds from Grover. But he needs a team to carry out this plan. His friend Jagmohan Prakash, better known as Jag, whom he has known since childhood, is a bomb expert. The safe cracker Temhaton "Tammy" Irani, Charlie's father's best friend, is also there. Jag's nephew Rohan Singh is a hacker and also joins the team. After Charlie realizes that he needs the fingerprint of Grover's son, Vicky Grover, he gets Vicky's doppelganger Nandu on board. Everyone is privy to the plan, but they have a problem. You have to attend the dance show World Dance Championship because the Shalimar are kept in the Atlantis Hotel and they can only get in at the same time when they participate. As hard as they try, they can't dance. In the night club they meet Mohini Joshi. She is supposed to teach the team how to dance, but they don't tell her about their project. During the dance lessons, Mohini and Charlie fall in love.
The team make it to the quarter-finals, which will take place in Dubai , although the crowd and Grover can't stand the team. You become the India team . But the plan has to be changed because the Shalimar diamonds unexpectedly arrive later than expected. Charlie saves the life of a rival during the performance and the group gets to the finals. Mohini learns of the plan and wants to leave the team. Charlie explains why he is doing this. He confesses to her that his father committed suicide because Grover called him a thief and destroyed his reputation. Mohini decides to help the five boys. On the final night everything goes as planned and they steal the diamonds. Mohini notices that no one from the team is on stage for the performance and decides to appear in front of the audience alone, because she does not want to abandon her country. Rohan helps her. Tammy, Nandu and Jag follow, leaving Charlie alone. During the performance, Charlie makes an unexpected effort and the team does particularly well. When Grover notices that the Shalimar diamonds have disappeared, he immediately blames Charlie's team. But the team is on stage and dancing. As expected, Grover is arrested. Team India wins the World Dance Championship 2014. While Grover is being taken away by the police, Charlie reveals to him who he really is and who did it all for his father. The film ends with Mohini opening a dance school and Charlie proposing to her.
