action

Vikram Mayur comes from a very wealthy family whose business is based in England. The family is very British. As a result, Vikram looked down on India and had no intention of ever visiting his homeland.

Vikram's older brother Hari was the family's "black sheep" simply because he loved India. His love for India led him to leave the family and immigrate to India. As a result of a terrible accident, his heavily pregnant wife goes into labor, has her son Nandu, and then dies. Now only the eight-year-old sister-in-law named Bijuriya von Hari remains. When it was said that she and the boy should go to an orphanage, she abducted her little nephew without further ado and looked after him from now on as if it were her child. Because of Hari's strange ways, neither Nandu nor Bijuriya knew of his family and the family did not know that the rightful heir to the Mayur Empire in Bombay was shoeshine.

It is only when Mr. Madadgar, a lawyer and benefactor of Bijuriya, has found out how the Mayurs are doing, that Vikram decides to set foot on Indian soil. Vikram wanted to get the business done quickly and soon leave India with Nandu again. His business acumen made him believe he could buy absolutely anything, including Bijuriya, who had looked after Nandu for 8 years. When Vikram realized how much she had invested in Nandu - love, trust, care and affection, he realized that such feelings cannot be bought because they cannot be matched with money.

He is helpless in his quest to separate Nandu from Bjiuriya and at the same time falls in love with her, guided by the same values that brought his brother to India. For the first time, Vicram's heart experiences a conflict between his western outlook and his ever-growing love for India. In the end, Vikram marries Bijuiya.

Remarks

The film was shot on a visibly smaller budget than the later large-scale productions with Khan; there are fewer dancers in the musical interludes, foreign locations are not used - London can only be seen on stills - and the script is less polished. The dance moves are a bit more lascivious. The elements of the Khan formula for success are basically there. Thematically, the plot revolves around mutual care within the family and the loss of cultural identity of emigrants.

Reviews

At Bollywoodforum they write: "This Bollywood comedy shines through Shah Rukh Khan, who lives up to his reputation as the best actor in India with mischievous charm and cheeky sayings."

The review by Video.de says: “Once again, India's superstar Shahrukh Khan slips into several roles at the same time in this entertaining Bollywood comedy about lost sons, romances across class boundaries and the constant cultural conflict between foreigners infected with western lifestyles and those at home Landscholle remaining traditionalists. In between there is a strong sung against poverty and injustice by the authorities and a lance broken for girls with an unfair reputation (they are not like that!). Happy holidays for Bollywood fans.
