Ali Raza

Ali Raza (also S. Ali Raza ; born January 9, 1925 in Lucknow , † November 1, 2007 in Mumbai ) was an Indian screenwriter (dialogue writer ) and film director .

Life

Ali Raza's career began with Mehboob Khan , for whose films Andaz (1949), Aan (1952) and Mother India (1957) he wrote the dialogues. He also worked for Sunil Dutt's Reshma Aur Shera (1971) and most recently for the film English Babu Desi Mem - The Boy from England and the Indian Girl (1996).

In 1968 he won a Filmfare Award for best dialogue writer for his work on the literary film adaptation of Saraswatichandra .

He made his directorial debut with the film Pran Jaye Par Vachan Na Jaye (1974) with Sunil Dutt, Rekha and Iftekhar . Asha Bhosle received a Filmfare Award for best playback singer for one of the film songs . His second directorial work was Jaanwar (1982) with Zeenat Aman and Rajesh Khanna .

Ali Raza died of heart failure.
