TVO (formerly Tele Ostschweiz) is a licensed regional private television broadcaster in Switzerland for the cantons of St. Gallen , Appenzell Innerrhoden and Appenzell Ausserrhoden . It has been on the air since 1999. TVO is licensed as a regional broadcaster. Due to legal requirements, TVO is not allowed to broadcast the program via satellite.

history

Tele Ostschweiz first went on air on August 12, 1999. To begin with, three programs were produced - Nachrichten im Ostschweiz Aktuell , the background magazine Treffpunkt and the talk show Im Interview . The first general relaunch took place in spring 2001. The program Treffpunkt was renamed Zoom and a Sunday round was broadcast for the first time on Sunday evening . In 2008 the broadcast structure was rebuilt. The background magazine Zoom was deleted from the program without replacement. The talk show Im Interview was replaced by Sporttalk (Monday), praXis gsundheit (Tuesday), Fokus (Wednesday) and Fritsche (Thursday).

On August 16, 2010, TVO switched to the 16: 9 format. TVO has been digitally receivable throughout Switzerland since the end of 2012.

From May 2013 to October 2019 TVO produced 60 minutes a day from Monday to Friday . It contains news, weather and background discussions on current topics as well as a short summary of the news in compact form . A news program will also be produced on each Sunday.

Since April 2017, the news has been subtitled from 7 p.m.

The new series “Mensche i de Ostschwiz” started in August 2018

The year 2019 was dominated by the 20 year anniversary activities.

In the course of this, the regional broadcaster has moved to new premises on Fürstenlandstrasse in St. Gallen. In November 2019, the appearance was revised and the transmission grid adapted.

The news program is now called “Aktuell” and will continue to be the center of TVO reporting.

With the new programs “On the train with ...”, “To the business” and “Stammtisch”, TVO creates even closer proximity to its audience.

In 2018, CH Media took over TVO as the owner of the NZZ media group. CH Media started operations on October 1, 2018. CH Media is a joint venture between the NZZ media group and AZ Medien

In the 1st half of 2018, TVO had a daily reach of around 31,200 people (or 5.5% of the potential of 0.568 million people) in its concession area (people 3+ with guests), in German-speaking Switzerland of 76,100 people (or 1 , 5% of the potential of 5,186 million people).

With a budget of around CHF 3.5 million per year, TVO employed around 30 people in 2019 (excluding administration and advertising sales). The former employees include Wolf Buchinger and Linda Fäh .

TVO's studio was equipped with three mobile cameras and around 40 lights in 2019. The video journalists worked with Panasonic P2 cameras. The editing system used in 2019 was Apple Final Cut Pro 7 .
