Rani Mukerji plays the third part of the film's love triangle. Salman Khan has a guest role. The plot is melodramatic and begins with a look back at earlier, happier times and then returns to the present, where a young girl, played by Sana Saeed , works to bring everyone's relationships to a happy ending. Although the film does not follow the trend of NRI or only uses locations abroad, the video for the theme song was shot in Glen Coe , Scotland .

The original title Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is often abbreviated to "KKHH".

action

The very popular and conceited Rahul and the boyish Anjali are best friends and go to St. Xavier's College together.

When the dean's daughter Tina arrives at college, the duo becomes a trio - at least that's how Anjali sees it. Rahul, however, falls in love with Tina. When Anjali realizes that she loves Rahul and finds all her courage to confess her feelings to him, Rahul informs her of his feelings for Tina. Anjali is devastated and leaves school never to see Rahul again.

Tina and Rahul get married, but Tina dies after giving birth to her daughter Anjali and leaves her with eight letters. Anjali opens one of the letters every birthday. On her eighth birthday, she opens the last one. In it, her mother tells about Rahul and Anjali's relationship in college. Her mother knew that although she married Rahul and thus became his wife, she was never his best friend and true love, so she hires Anjali to bring her father and namesake together.

Anjali turns to her grandmother, Rahul's mother, and looks for the elder Anjali with her. She is currently working in a summer camp called Sunshine, where she teaches children to sing and dance. Anjali travels there with her grandmother and against her father's wishes, whereupon her father follows her and meets the older Anjali, who is no longer a tomboy: she is now an elegant, young woman. Old feelings and memories come to the surface very quickly.

The problem is now: Anjali is engaged to Aman. Aman, however, already suspects that his fiancée doesn't love him as much as he does her. So he travels after her to the summer camp. His doubts are fueled even more, especially when young Anjali tries to pair him with another. Anjali is torn, but then feels obliged to Aman and travels with him back to her family. Just before Anjali marries Aman, Rahul confesses his love to her and Aman breaks the engagement because he understands that his fiancée is not in love with him. Anjali and Rahul get married and become happy.

"Indian commercial cinema in its purest form: exotic colors, rousing music and dance interludes and a heart-wrenching, dramatic plot."
