Yash Johar

Yash Johar ( Hindi : यश जौहर , Yaś Jauhar ; born September 6, 1929 , † June 26, 2004 in Mumbai , India ) was an Indian producer of Hindi films . Known for their exotic locations and lavish settings, his films also incorporate Indian traditions and family values.

Life

Yash Johar came to film as a photographer and worked his way up to become a producer. From 1952 he worked for Sunil Dutt's production company Ajanta Arts. In the 1960s and 1970s he worked for Dev Anand at Navketan Films and participated in the productions of the films Guide , Jewel Thief , Prem Pujari and Haré Rama Haré Krishna, among others . In 1976 Yash Johar founded Dharma Productions .

Johar died of a lung infection at the age of 74.

His son Karan Johar is one of the most successful scriptwriters and directors of Hindi films.
