Farida Jalal
Farida Jalal (* 14. March 1949 in New Delhi , India ) is a Bollywood - Actress . In the films she mostly plays the grandmother or mother of the main characters. She has worked with Bollywood actors Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan . In 1995 she received the Filmfare Award for Best Actress .
Career
Farida Jalal began her career in the 1960s when she won the United Film Producers' talent competition sponsored by Filmfare. She originally played mostly the sister or rejected fiancée of the male lead, but almost never the female lead. She plays one of her most successful roles in Bobby , where she plays the role of the mentally handicapped future fiancée of Raj, played by Rishi Kapoor. During the 1980s she first played the sister and friend, and as she got older she played the aunt, mother or grandmother. She is also known for her role in Aradhana, where she plays Rajesh Khanna's friend and sings the song "Bagon mich bahar hai, kaliyon pe nikhar hai".
