Life

Giles Martin grew up without being particularly aware of his father's fame in connection with the Beatles. When he was 14, his father advised him not to pursue a career in the music business because he thought he was not good enough. His father's statement increased his ambition and so Giles Martin first played in the commercially unsuccessful band Velvet Jones , produced jingles and worked on various musicals . From the age of 19, Giles Martin began to assist his father as he was slowly becoming hard of hearing. During this time he began to acquire knowledge of production activities. Martin produced a DVD with a concert given on the 50th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's throne .

Giles Martin received more attention from the production of the successful British band Kula Shaker . He then produced various artists, including Jeff Beck , Elvis Costello , INXS and Kate Bush . In 2003 he produced the UK's fastest-selling classic album of all time ( Pure by Hayley Westenra ).

Together with his father, he reworked the album Love in 2006 , in which various Beatles songs were shuffled, rearranged and reassembled, using his strengths in digital music production and manipulation for the somewhat more drastic changes on the album Love . On June 12, 2009, the compilation album Let It Roll: Songs by George Harrison by George Harrison was released, the songs were remastered under the direction of Giles Martin with Paul Hicks at Abbey Road Studios .

The release took place in 2012. In the same year, the restored Beatles film Magical Mystery Tour was released again on October 5, Giles Martin was listed as a sound producer. Martin acted as lead producer for Paul McCartney's 2013 album New , on which he produced several songs himself alongside Mark Ronson , Paul Epworth , and Ethan Johns . In June 2014, the Beatles feature film A Hard Day's Night was re-released in which Martin re-mixed the sound.

On November 6, 2015, album 1 was re-released for the second time. In this version, the songs by Giles Martin and Sam Okell were remixed at Abbey Road Studios . There are clearly audible differences in some of the songs. Giles Martin was listed as the sound producer. On September 9, 2016 a new release of the album The Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl was released , Martin was listed as responsible producer. For the film The Beatles: Eight Days a Week - The Touring Years , which had its film premiere in September 2016, the sound revision was carried out under the supervision of Martin.

For the 50th anniversary in 2017, Giles Martin remixed the Beatles album Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band together with sound engineer Sam Okell . The aim was to create a stereo mix of the album based on the original mono mix from 1967. "The result was celebrated by fans and the trade press - the most famous album in pop history suddenly sounds clearer, closer, somehow new," wrote Thomas Lindemann.

On October 22, 2018, Martin was named Head of Audio & Sound for the Universal Music Group .

For the 50th anniversary, on November 9, 2018, the album The Beatles followed , which was also remixed by Martin and Okell.
