Let It Roll: Songs by George Harrison is the third compilation album by George Harrison since the Beatles split up and it is the second posthumously released album since Harrison's death in 2001. At the same time, it includes the two instrumental albums from the 1960s, the studio albums, of the compilation albums and the live albums, George Harrison's 17th album. It was released on June 12, 2009 in the UK and June 16, 2009 in the US .

History of origin

Since the last two compilation albums The Best of George Harrison and Best of Dark Horse 1976-1989 , 33 and 20 years had passed by the time Let It Roll: Songs by George Harrison was released . In contrast to the first two compilation albums, Let It Roll: Songs by George Harrison encompassed George Harrison 's entire solo career. The songs were remastered at Abbey Road Studios under the direction of Giles Martin with Paul Hicks and the compilation of the tracks was done by Olivia Harrison with the help of friends.

The compilation album contains three Beatles songs from the live album The Concert for Bangla Desh come: While My Guitar Gently Weeps , Something and Here Comes the Sun . Does not include songs that George Harrison recorded with the Traveling Wilburys . When compiling the titles, the following top 20 hit single releases from Great Britain and the USA were omitted: Bangla-Desh , Dark Horse , You and Crackerbox Palace . Instead, album tracks or less successful single tracks were selected. The track I Don't Want to Do It was previously only available on the soundtrack album Porky's Revenge and in the USA as a 7 ″ vinyl single (released April 22, 1985).

Cover design

The cover was designed by Olivia Harrison and Drew Lorimer, the photo by Apple Corps . The CD is in a digipak, which is accompanied by a 28-page illustrated booklet containing Warren Zanes information on George Harrison's career.
