Extra Texture (Read All About It) The Best of George Harrison
1976

Extra Texture (Read All About It) is George Harrison's fourth solo studio album after the Beatles split up . At the same time, including the two instrumental albums from the 1960s and the live album, it is Harrison's seventh album. It was released on October 3, 1975 in the UK and on September 22, 1975 in the US .

History of origin

After completing the North American tour in December 1974, George Harrison composed songs for his last album, which was to appear on the Apple label . Extra Texture (Read All About It) was then recorded between April and June 1975. The original recordings of You were made in February 1971; the title was originally intended for Ronnie Spector. A Bit More of You is just a short instrumental repetition of You . The basis for the text of The Answer's at the End was influenced by an inscription on a wall in George Harrison's house by the builder of the estate, Sir Frankie Crisp. This Guitar (Can't Keep from Crying) is the musical continuation of While My Guitar Gently Weeps . Ooh Baby (You Know That I Love You) is a musical homage to Smokey Robinson , another homage followed later on the album Thirty Three & 1/3 with the song Pure Smokey . Harrison wrote the song His Name Is Legs (Ladies and Gentlemen) for "Legs" Larry Smith ( Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band ), with whom he was friends. Tired of Midnight Blue was inspired by going to a nightclub in Los Angeles . Gray Cloudy Lies was written by then-wife Pattie Harrison during the separation period . Can't Stop Thinking About You is a love song.

In November 1975, the album was awarded gold in the USA for 500,000 copies sold.

Others

The inside cover says OHNOTHIMAGEN , which stands for Oh not him again . A humorous allusion to his frequent guest appearances with other artists. There is more Harrison humor on the label (a chewed apple; a nod to the expiring contract with Apple Records ), as well as the mention of eight artists / friends on the back cover, none of whom were involved in the album.
