Carl Radle

Carl Dean Radle (born June 18, 1942 in Tulsa , Oklahoma ; † May 30, 1980 ) was an American bassist , and longtime musician with Eric Clapton , who worked with some of the most successful artists of the 1960s and 1970s on stage and in the studio has worked together.

Life

Radle is known for his long association with Eric Clapton, beginning in 1969 with Delaney and Bonnie and Friends and in 1970 with Derek and the Dominos . He was involved in all of Clapton's solo albums up to 1979 and was one of the regular members of his live band between 1974 and 1979, along with Dick Sims and Jamie Oldaker . During this time Radle was not only a bass player, but was also occasionally active as an arranger (including Motherless Children ). He is named as a co-producer on No Reason to Cry .

Through Clapton his participation in George Harrison's concert for Bangladesh came about. In addition to working with Clapton, Radle also played on recordings by Dave Mason , JJ Cale , George Harrison, Joe Cocker and Buddy Guy

Radle died of a kidney infection in 1980 at the age of 37.
