Kara DioGuardi (born December 9, 1970 in Scarsdale , New York ) is an American music producer , songwriter and pop musician .

Career

DioGuardi's father, Joseph J. DioGuardi, is the son of Albanian immigrants and was a member of the US Congress . She herself grew up in New Rochelle and attended a conservative private school. After graduating from high school, she first studied political science (until 1993) at Duke University in Durham (North Carolina) and then worked for Billboard Magazine . Between 1999 and 2001 she made her own recordings with Jon Wolfson under the name MaD DoLL .

While she was initially denied the commercial success of her own musical activity, she became a very sought-after songwriter for internationally known pop musicians, among others. a .:

In July 2006, DioGuardi was a member of the jury in the US talent show The One: Making a Music Star , which, however, had very little success and was discontinued after two weeks. In 2009 and 2010 she was a jury member for the successful casting show American Idol .
