In the Zone (. English for: " in the field ") is the fourth studio album by the American pop - singer Britney Spears , who thus music in pop, electro-trance, hip-hop, rock and dance music moves.

The album rose u. a. in the USA, France, Mexico and the United World Charts at number 1. The first single Me Against the Music reached number 1 in five countries and the top ten in 12 other countries. The second single Toxic was more successful than the first single, reaching number 1 in six countries and the top ten in 15 other countries. The song won a Grammy Award in the "Best Dance Recording" category.

The third single, Everytime , took first place in four countries and made it into the top ten in 16 other countries.

Production and Criticism

Spears fourth album is the most musically multifaceted and versatile album of the singer so far, as very different producers and authors such as R. Kelly , Bloodshy & Avant, Red Zone, The Matrix, P. Diddy and Moby have worked on the album. Spears also worked closely with the producers himself and wrote 9 of 14 songs. Me Against the Music was a collaboration with Madonna and the album's first single release, while the singer in (I Got That) Boom Boom was supported by the Ying Yang Twins with several rap passages. After the album was released, critics often focused their attention on the songs Breathe on Me and Touch of My Hand , as both have lyrical sexual hints. With the commercial success of the second single Toxic, both critics and fans viewed this song as one of the strongest on the album. The song brought Spears her first Grammy in 2005 in the "Best Dance Recording" category.

Commercial win

In the United States, Spears' fourth album, like its three predecessors, debuted at number 1 and sold around 609,000 copies in the first week. With that she broke her own record, because before that no artist except Spears managed to enter the US album charts from 0 to number 1 with three albums in a row. Spears made it with the album in the US on 3 × platinum , which corresponds to 3,000,000 records sold. In total, In the Zone sold over 3,100,000 copies in the United States. Even if Spears was able to sell more of their previous albums in the USA, the single releases from In the Zone were much more commercially successful than from their predecessor Britney . In Germany and Canada the album entered number 2, while in Latin America the album continued the success of its predecessors and a. First place in Mexico and Argentina; also went platinum in Mexico for 100,000 copies sold.

Like its predecessors , In the Zone reached number 1 in the United World Charts , i.e. the official world charts , and has sold over 12 million copies worldwide to date.
