I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman is a song by US singer Britney Spears from her third studio album, Britney . It was written and produced by Max Martin and Rami . The singer Dido also wrote the lyrics. The song was released on February 18, 2002 through Jive Records . In the United States and Canada it served as the second single on the album, and internationally as the third single.
The song is about the time in life when a girl develops into a woman. Spears sang the song on her Dream Within a Dream tour and on several TV shows.

In early 2001, Spears and her team developed a script for a film in which the singer was to play the lead role. After completing the script, the title Crossroads was chosen for the film. However, the title of the song can be derived from the working title and the film title Not a Girl advertised in Germany . After Jive Records turned down a soundtrack for the film, Spears decided to use the song for her third album, Britney .
Music video
The accompanying music video was shot by Wayne Isham . Isham wanted to show Spears "in nature," so the video was filmed entirely outdoors, none of the scenes were shot in front of green screens. The video consists mostly of scenes showing Spears on the edge of a cliff. The location was Lake Powell and Antelope Canyon in the US state of Arizona .
