Britney is the third studio album of American pop - singer Britney Spears . It was released worldwide on November 5, 2001 and on November 6, 2001 in the USA and Canada as well as on November 12, 2001 in Japan , both on the Jive Records label. It is the genres of pop , dance pop , pop-rock and R 'n' B attributed. Spears supported the promotion of the album with their Dream Within a Dream Tour .
Music style & criticism
Britney was received positively by most of the critics and rated as a further development of the artist. So was All Music Guide the album 4.5 out of 5 stars with the statement that the singer reveal their personality with this album, adult THAT CONDITION, yet she was herself. Spears tried his hand at other music genres for the first time , so two of the extracted songs, I'm a Slave 4 U as the first single and later Boys , are in the R&B area, both produced by the American hip-hop duo The Neptunes .
Commercial win
Britney debuted at number one in both Canada and the US in the first week, ahead of Michael Jackson's new studio album, Invincible . In the US, Britney sold over 746,000 copies in the first week alone. As a result, Spears set a record for the first time, which she later broke again: No female artist managed to enter the US Billboard 200 with three studio albums in a row. To date, Britney has sold 4.9 million copies in the US alone, a commercial success and a break in sales compared to Spears' two previous albums.

Singles
A total of six singles were released from Britney . The first worldwide single was the R&B hit I'm a Slave 4 U produced by The Neptunes in September 2001 . With this song and the accompanying video, Spears went in a completely different direction: The singer showed herself to the audience much more mature, adult and wicked. The second and third single releases were Overprotected and I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman , the former being used as the second single in Australia and the UK and the latter in the US and the rest of Europe . For the critics, both singles symbolized the "return to pop", which Spears initially opted for. Overprotected was also chosen as the third single for the US, but not, however, initially in the German speaking by Rodney Jerkins ge remixed and thus as Overprotected (Darkchild Remix) released new video. I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman , also the theme song for Spear's first feature film Not a Girl , has now been released as the third single in the UK and other countries. So there was a single split between the two songs .
This was followed by I Love Rock 'n' Roll , a cover by the band Arrows and at the same time the soundtrack of Spears' movie, and Boys , which in turn was remixed (by The Neptunes ) and now appeared as Boys (The Co-Ed Remix) a collaboration with Pharrell Williams . Jive Records released Anticipating as the sixth single only in France and Brazil instead of I Love Rock 'n' Roll . This single was the first and so far the last "test release"; The record company wanted to appeal to a different audience with the 80s- inspired single, which was also successful because the single was passably successful in both countries and entered the charts.
