Everytime (English for ". Every time ") is a song by American pop - singer Britney Spears from her fourth studio album In the Zone . It was released on May 10, 2004 as the third single from the album through Jive Records .

After Spears ended her relationship with singer Justin Timberlake , she befriended her backing singer Annet Artani. While Spears was composing the music on the piano , the song was written with Artani in Germany . Everytime is a pop ballad. The text is about forgiveness for accidental mistakes and injuries. In the music video, Stephen Dorff plays Spears' friend.

A helicopter flies over the Palms Casino Resort and a poster with Britney Spears next gig in Las Vegas is shown. Britney Spears herself is sitting in the back of a car with a friend, with empty bottles on the floor and he waves it away when she wants something from him. Pressed by the paparazzi , her boyfriend and Britney Spears get upset and he can flee home. There is another argument and she goes into the bathtub while her boyfriend smashes a vase. Suddenly Britney discovers a head wound and slides down into the water. She walks lightly dressed through a tunnel and sees how she is hopelessly reanimated herself. The friend jumps into the bathtub and lifts her head out of the water. A baby is born in Britney's dream while she herself is being taken out of the hospital and walking back down the tunnel. She wakes up again.

The song was received positively by the critics, praising the simple lyrics and organic feel of the song compared to the other songs on In the Zone . Everytime was part of several concerts and was included in two tours by Spears, the Onyx Hotel Tour (2004) and the The Circus Starring: Britney Spears Tour (2009). It is also part of their current Las Vegas show Britney: Piece of Me . Everytime has been covered by artists like Glen Hansard and Jackie Evancho .
In the film Spring Breakers , Alien (played by James Franco ) sings the song on the piano.
