Jackie Evancho (as Jacqueline Marie Evancho ; born April 9, 2000 ) is a young American singer in the field of classical and pop. She became known to a wide audience in 2010 through her participation in the fifth season of the casting show America's Got Talent , in which she reached second place. Her repertoire is a crossover between classical music and pop. Her publications were initially characterized by classical arias from the operatic genre as well as works from the spiritual realm, so that she was already celebrated as a young soprano. Most recently Evancho tended towards popular music.

Career

In November 2009, an independently released debut album was released under the title Prelude to a Dream . After receiving a recording deal from Syco Music , the album O Holy Night was released in November 2010 . It reached number 2 on the American Billboard charts and was awarded a platinum record . In 2011 and 2012, three more albums came out, all of which debuted in the top 10 spots on the Billboard 200 . At classical-crossover.co.uk she leads the ranking with twice as many votes as the second placed person.

Evancho appeared as an actress in Robert Redford's feature film The Company You Keep in 2012 . The film premiered at the Venice International Film Festival in 2012 and was later screened at the Toronto International Film Festival . From July 25, 2013, the film was also shown in German cinemas under the title The Company You Keep - The Grant Files .

She sang at the inauguration of Donald Trump , the national anthem of the United States .

In May 2020, Evancho reached fifth place out of 18 participants as Kitty in the third season of the US version of The Masked Singer .
