Glory (English for: " Fame ") is the ninth studio album by the US singer Britney Spears . It was released on August 26, 2016 and musically moves in the pop, pop-rock and dance sectors.

Music genre

In an interview in the news magazine Extra on September 10, 2014, she described the album as stylistically pop or pop rock . The magazine E! She told News that the album would also feature ballads and dance songs . In March 2016, she said in an interview with V magazine that the album was different from what many would expect. She later called the album the beginning of a new era.

History of origin

Work on the new album began in mid-2014. In September 2014, she said the writing process for her new album was in progress and the album would contain several I-hate-men-and-I-love-men songs. In October 2015, Spears announced that she had started recording the album. On June 29, 2016, Sony stated in its quarterly report that September 1, 2016 was the expected release date. On July 14, 2016, Spears released the single Make Me . On August 3, 2016, she announced on social media that the album will be titled Glory and will be available for pre-order on Apple Music from August 4th . Pre-orderers would receive the song Private Show in advance for free. The album was released on August 26, 2016.

In addition to the pre-release release of Make Me , Spears also appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote the album.

Cover design

The cover design was released together with the album announcement on August 3, 2016. The cover shows Spears face in a frontal close-up with messy hair. A light shines from the upper left corner. She wears a lace outfit with a collar. She had used similar covers on her earlier albums In the Zone , Femme Fatale and Britney Jean .

Make Me

Make Me was the first single from the album and was released on July 14, 2016. It is a featuring with rapper G-Eazy . In terms of content, the song expresses a sex-positive message. It encourages women to stand by their sexuality and live it out. A music video was shot for the song, directed by David LaChapelle .

Private show

Private Show had been used in advertising for Spears' perfume of the same name even before the album was announced. It is described as musically experimental as it takes different musical directions. The song was received positively.

Clumsy

Clumsy is the third song released from the album. It was released on August 11, 2016. People who pre-ordered the album on iTunes received the song, and it could also be streamed on Spotify . Musically it is described as club pop . The song is characterized by beat-heavy electronic dance music , which has been mixed with modern pop sounds.

Do You Wanna Come Over?

Do You Wanna Come Over? was the fourth release of the album and was released on August 17, 2016. In terms of content, the song is about an invitation to sex, with which one can wish for anything. Musically, the song is described as electro pop.

Slumber party

Slumber Party is Spears' second single, which was released with a music video on November 18, 2016. It's a featuring with singer Tinashe. The music video shows a private and wild party in a villa.
