G-Eazy 2019

G-Eazy (born May 24, 1989 in Oakland , California ; real name Gerald Earl Gillum ) is an American rapper . His debut album These Things Happen was released on June 23, 2014 and received consistently positive reviews. His second album, When It's Dark Out , was released on December 4th, 2015. The third album, The Beautiful & Damned , was released on December 15th, 2017.

Life

Gillum's parents, who are of Ukrainian roots , divorced when he was in first grade. When he was twelve years old, his mother began a relationship with a woman. After initial difficulties, based on his confusion and simultaneous anger, he got on better and better with his mother's partner. Shortly afterwards he found her dead; she had died of a drug overdose she had taken for depression. Gillum processes these experiences in his song Everything Will Be OK (appeared on the album When It's Dark Out ). He studied Music Industries Studies at Loyola University New Orleans and completed his Bachelor of Arts in 2011.

From September 2017 to October 2018 he was in a relationship with the singer Halsey .

Career

When he was a student, G-Eazy worked with rappers Lil B, Crohn and The Cataracs . On MySpace he was part of the group The Bay Boyz , which had released some successful songs there. In 2011 he released his mixtape The Endless Summer , which u. a. the songs Runaround Sue (cover version of Dion DiMiucci's 1961 US success), "Endless Summer" and "Fried Rice" included, which have now been viewed over 35 million times on Youtube. In November of the same year he went on tour with Shwayze. My Life Is a Party was featured in the Saints Row: The Third video game . His completely independently produced album Must Be Nice reached number 3 on the iTunes hip-hop charts in 2012 . In 2013 he accompanied 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne on tour. On December 15, 2013 G-Eazy performed his song Lotta That from the album These Things Happen together with Master Chen B in New York, which was his final breakthrough.

In 2014 he released his studio album These Things Happen . The music video for "I Mean It" generated almost 400 million views on YouTube alone, but other songs such as "Tumblr Girls" and "Far Alone" also generated a lot of attention. In the same year he went on the sold out tour "From the Bay to the Universe", which went around the globe.

At the end of 2015 he released his second major studio album "When It's Dark Out". The song "Me, Myself and I" with Bebe Rexha came to number 7 in the US charts. In the summer of the following year he went on tour again with Logic and other side acts. ("Endless Summer" Tour)

G-Eazy attracted particular attention in July 2016 with the release of the single Make Me… , on which he collaborated as a guest rapper with pop singer Britney Spears . The song reached number 1 on the iTunes pop charts in 45 countries.

At the end of 2017 G-Eazy released his third major studio album "The Beautiful & Damned". Especially "Him & I" (with Halsey) and "No Limit" (with Asap Rocky and Cardi B) got a lot of attention. The latter made it to number 4 on the US charts. As with the previous two albums, the album went platinum. Early next year, G-Eazy embarked on "The Beautiful & Damned" tour which took place in the United States and Europe.

In September 2019, G-Eazy released the EP B-Sides , although he had released several single releases in the months before. This EP contains some of the songs that won't make it onto his upcoming 2020 album These Things Happen Too.

In October 2019 G-Eazy released the 8-part EP Scary Nights .

In February 2020, G-Eazy released the single Still Be Friends. The music video, released a few weeks later, was produced in cooperation with the pornography production company "Vixen".
