Britney Jean is the eighth studio album by the American singer Britney Spears . In North America it was released on December 3, 2013, while in Europe and Australia it was released on November 29, 2013. It was Spears' first studio album since switching from their old label Jive Records to RCA Records and reached number four on the US charts .
Background and production
Back in 2012, during her time as a juror on the second season of the American version of The X Factor , Spears was spotted in the recording studio with producer Rodney Jerkins . In May 2013, producers Naughty Boy and William Orbit announced they would be working with Spears on their new album. Also in May 2013, Will.i.am was confirmed as Executive Producer of the album. Spears describes the album as the most personal album of her career, the title should reflect that statement. She said that her experiences last year, including breaking up with ex-fiancé Jason Trawick, had encouraged her to do so.
promotion
During a live broadcast from the Nevada desert , Spears announced on Good Morning America that their eighth studio album would be released in December 2013. In an interview with London's largest radio station Capital FM in October, she announced the title of the new album. Britney Jean is used as her nickname within her family, according to Spears. A handwritten letter from Spears was posted on her official website at the end of October, thanking her fans for their support and giving details about the album.
