Julia Michaels (born November 13, 1993 in Davenport , Iowa ; real name Julia Carin Cavazos ) is an American pop singer and songwriter .

Career

Julia Michaels was born in Iowa in the American Midwest, but grew up in Santa Clarita , California . In her childhood she wrote texts and poems, but musically she was in the shadow of her older sister. When she was 16, she accompanied her to demo recordings, where she met a songwriter who encouraged her to write songs. Her entry was the Disney series Austin & Ally , for which she submitted a song. She worked as a songwriter for other musicians, often together with Joleen Belle and Lindy Robbins and later with Justin Tranter. One of her first successes in which she was involved was the song Miss Movin 'On by Fifth Harmony , a chart hit in the United States. She has written for Demi Lovato , Fifth Harmony, Selena Gomez , Gwen Stefani , Hailee Steinfeld , John Legend , Shawn Mendes , Kelly Clarkson and Rita Ora , among others . Also at Sorry by Justin Bieber had content, the song was an international Tophit and among others in US and UK number one.

In 2015 she also appeared as a singer for the first time when she was a guest singer with Zedd and Jason Derulo on their albums. The following year she recorded the song Carry Me with the Norwegian DJ Kygo and performed with him at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . The song hit the charts in Norway. In early 2017, she was named Artist to Watch by Billboard magazine , shortly before her first own single Issues was released. She became an international chart hit and reached the top 5 in Norway and Australia, among others. On July 28, 2017 her EP Nervous System was released .
