Zara Larsson (2019)

Zara Maria Larsson (born December 16, 1997 in Solna ) is a Swedish pop singer . Larsson first rose to prominence in 2008 when she won Talang , the Swedish version of Got Talent . She is currently under contract with TEN Music Group , a Swedish sub-label of Universal Music Group , and Epic Records .

Life

Zara Larsson grew up as the daughter of a soldier and a nurse in the Stockholm district of Enskede-Årsta-Vantör . She has a sister three years her junior. She went to school in Gubbängen in the Farsta district before switching to ballet training at the Royal Swedish Ballet School (Kungliga Svenska Balettskolan) in third grade . She started singing at an early age, but did not take the opportunity to go to the Adolf-Friedrich-Musikschule (Adolf Fredrik's music class) because she did not feel comfortable with choir singing. When she switched to the Kulturama art school in the ninth grade, she said she became much more aware of the world, social issues and gender-specific patterns.

Career

2007–2011: career start

After Larsson took a liking to singing in her early childhood, her mother signed her up for the 2007 Talang . During the course of the competition she covered Whitney Houston's songs The Greatest Love of All and One Moment in Time , in the finale she then appeared with a cover version of My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion . There she was able to prevail against the seven other finalists and finish the competition as the winner. She won a sum of 500,000 Swedish kronor (equivalent to € 48,600) and the version of My Heart Will Go On was later released as Larsson's debut single. A video of her final appearance on YouTube had almost 16 million clicks by March 2018.
