One Moment in Time was released worldwide on August 7, 1988. It became a number one hit in countries like Germany and the UK . The song also reached the top five in the US AC charts.
The song is 4:36 minutes long and appeared on the album One Moment in Time: 1988 Summer Olympics Album . On the B-side of the single is the track Olympic Joy . The album was produced in cooperation with NBC Sports and contains tracks from the Four Tops , Bee Gees , Eric Carmen , Taylor Dayne and John Williams .
The ballad is to be understood as a hymn to the belief in oneself and has the statement that one can overcome all obstacles.
The music video consists of cut scenes from earlier Olympic Games , in some scenes you can see Houston singing the song. She also performed the song at the Grammy Awards .
The song was traditionally played in the credits of Schlag den Raab , with a compilation of the most spectacular images of the respective episode. At the end of the last broadcast on December 19, 2015, Raab sang the song himself with the studio band, the Heavytones .
