Whitney Houston is the debut album by Whitney Houston , released in February 1985th It has been sold 22 million times worldwide.
history
After Houston performed in a New York nightclub , Clive Davis discovered her talent and believed in her potential to become a superstar. She then signed a record deal.
Work on the album began in early 1984. At first, Davis found it difficult to choose the songs for the album. Because similar pop and dance artists were popular at the time, many songwriters found themselves inspired by Houston's singing voice. Narada Michael Walden , Michael Masser and Kashif were hired as songwriters .
All At Once is a single, written by Michael Masser and Jeffrey Osborne and recorded for the album by Whitney Houston. The song was released as a single in Japan and several European countries in 1985/1986 and became the first hit for Whitney Houston in the Netherlands. Houston also sang the song at the 1987 American Music Awards .
Initially the album did not get a great response on the music market, but after the song You Give Good Love was released as a single, the LP benefited from the success and landed at the top of the Billboard charts in March 1986 , where it spent a total of 14 weeks.
Of all the albums that Houston released, this sold the best - with the exception of the soundtrack to the 1992 film Bodyguard , in which Houston was not only involved, but only contributed six songs. In the list of 500 best albums of all time of Rolling Stone is the album Place 254th
Due to its popularity, the album received critical acclaim and the music industry, it was nominated in the category of album of the year for the Grammy Awards 1986 , but lost to Phil Collins ' album No Jacket Required . The song Saving All My Love for You also won the Grammy Awards for Best Female Vocal Performance .
