TV4 is a Swedish private television broadcaster .

TV4 began broadcasting its programs via satellite in 1990 and obtained the only private broadcasting license for analogue terrestrial television in Sweden in 1992. Since the shutdown of the analogue, terrestrial TV channels in October 2007, TV4 has been broadcasting via DVB-T . Today, TV4 can also be received via the Sirius satellite and the Swedish cable networks. Since the start of terrestrial broadcasting in 1992, the station has operated regional stations in the various Swedish provinces.

In 1994 TV4 became Sweden's largest TV channel, but lost that position to SVT a few years later . Today TV4 and SVT1 have roughly the same number of viewers.

In the course of the transition to digital television, TV4, like many other television stations, launched various new channels. In addition to TV4, there are also TV4 +, TV400, TV4 Film, TV4 Fakta, TV4 Komedi, TV4 Guld, TV4 Sport and TV4 HD. There are also plans for a new channel called TV4 Science Fiction.
