Allan Arthur Guy Sigsworth is a British music producer and songwriter .

Life

Guy Sigsworth dealt with classical music from an early age and later studied at the Utrecht Conservatory in the Netherlands . After his return to Great Britain he got to know the music genre of acid house emerging there. He met Seal shortly thereafter and wrote the hit single Crazy and other pieces of music for him, which were released on his 1991 debut album Seal . During the production, Sigsworth met the music producer Trevor Horn .

This was followed by collaborations with musicians such as Tim Simenon ( Bomb the Bass ), Talvin Singh and Björk . He worked with Björk first on individual pieces for their album Post (1995). For the 1997 album Homogenic he wrote the piece Unravel with Björk and also acted as a producer. For Björk's album Vespertine he wrote the pieces Hidden Place , An Echo, A Stain , Sun In My Mouth and Harm Of Will together with the musician .

In 1996 Sigsworth met the musician Imogen Heap and wrote several pieces with her for Heap's 1997 debut album iMegaphone .

In 1998 he co-produced the Mandalay album Empathy , which made Madonna notice him. Sigsworth wrote for her, among other things, the piece What It Feels Like For A Girl from the album Music (2000). In 2003 he signed with Jem the piece Nothing Fails for Madonna's album American Life .

In 2002, the collaboration with Imogen Heap resulted in the short-lived band project Frou Frou , whose only album Details was released in the same year. The piece Let Go contained on it only became known internationally to a larger audience in 2004 as a soundtrack contribution to the independent film Garden State .

After that, Sigsworth turned back to the songwriting and production of other artists. He has worked with musicians such as Bebel Gilberto , Josh Groban , Kate Havnevik , Juliet Richardson and Mirah . For Britney Spears he produced the track Everytime , which appeared on Spears' album In the Zone (2003). Sigsworth also produced Out From Under and co-composed and produced My Baby from Spears' album Circus (2008).

In the same year he produced Alanis Morissette's seventh studio album Flavors of Entanglement , which reached chart positions worldwide. Sighsworth was also involved in the production of the eighth album by the musician Havoc and Bright Lights from 2012.
