Willie Weeks (* 1947 in Salemburg , North Carolina ) is an American bass guitarist .

Life

Weeks was a founding member of the radio band Rufus in 1970 . In 1973 he separated from the band and began his career as a studio and guest musician . He played bass for Stevie Wonder's album Innervisions, among others , followed by recordings with The Rolling Stones , Rod Stewart , Aretha Franklin and Don McLean . Between 1974 and 1982 he played bass on all of George Harrison's studio albums . He also worked on several of their albums with David Bowie and Randy Newman . In 1998 he made a small appearance in the film Blues Brothers 2000 as bassist for the Louisiana Gator Boys . Between 2006 and 2007 he toured the world with Eric Clapton .
