Kyritzian circle

The Kyritzische Kreis , also Kreis Kyritz , was a Markbrandenburgischer Kreis in the Prignitz , which had developed in the course of the 16th century and lasted until 1816. The largest part was united in the administrative reform of that time together with the larger parts of the Wittstock and Pritzwalk districts to form the Ostprignitz district . Only Darsikow came to the Ruppin district.

Geographical location

The Kyritzic circle consisted of four non-contiguous parts, with the western and eastern parts each consisting of only one village, which are better known as exclaves. The western exclave (Vehlin) was surrounded by the Pritzwalk, Havelberg and Plattenburg districts . The eastern exclave bordered in the west on the Wittstockische Kreis, in the north and south on Mecklenburg exclaves and in the east on the Ruppinsche Kreis . The main part was around and mainly north of the city of Kyritz. It bordered in the north on the Wittstockische Kreis, in the east on Mecklenburg exclaves and the Ruppinsche Kreis, in the south on the Havelberg and Plattenburg districts as well as on an exclave of the Pritzwalkischer Kreis, and in the west on the Havelbergische and Pritzwalkischen Kreis. The southern part, a larger exclave consisting of ten villages, was surrounded by the Havelberg, Plattenburg and Ruppin districts.

Kuckucksmühle ( watermill ) (now a place to live in the Grabow district of Blumenthal, Heiligengrabe municipality). There is evidence of a watermill here since the middle of the 16th century. From 1840 a paper mill was operated here.
Lellichow ( Lellchow, Kolonie ) (today a district of the city of Kyritz). Around 1699 a water mill was built here (again), a Vorwerk was added in 1731 and a Büdner colony in 1776/7. The place belonged to the Wittstock office .

Rüdow ( Rudowsche Mühle, watermill on the Jägelitz, between Drewen and Kyritz, on the desert Feldmark Rötken ) (today a residential area of the city of Kyritz). A watermill has been documented here since 1516.
Sechzehneichen ( Sechzehneichen, Kolonie ) (today part of the municipality of Wusterhausen / Dosse). In the Middle Ages, the village of Ebelgünne stood here and fell into desolation early on. In 1783/4 20 Büdner jobs were created in ten twin houses.
Sophiendorf ( Koloniedorf ) (today part of the municipality of Breddin). In 1776/78 23 colonist sites with 50 acres each were laid out here.
Stolpe ( leasehold farm and colony ) (today a residential area of the city of Kyritz). In 1691 there was a sheep farm here on the desert field of Stolp. The ruins of the old church were still there. A water mill was added around 1775. In 1800 it had become a Vorwerk and a colony with 4 colonists.

In the district reform of 1816/7, most of the Kyritz district was combined with the larger parts of the Wittstock and Pritzwalk districts to form the Ostprignitz district . Only the Darsikow exclave came to the Ruppin district . A small part of the Havelberg district and a very small part of the Perleberg district also came to the Ostprignitz district.
