Location of sixteen oaks in Brandenburg

Sechzehneichen is a district of the municipality Wusterhausen / Dosse with 64 inhabitants (as of 2012) in the district of Ostprignitz-Ruppin in the state of Brandenburg . It is nine kilometers north of Wusterhausen / Dosse in the historic Prignitz landscape .

The colonist village was laid out on the decree of Frederick the Great in 1783/1784. At that time 10 semi-detached houses were built for 20 families. The name comes from the 16 oak trees that stood on this parcel. These oaks are no longer standing. But 16 new ones were planted in the cemetery. One did not grow and was replaced (it is / was smaller than the others), so for fun they said “15 oaks and one stake”. Another, "Peace Oak", stands in front of the morgue. Before the fall of the Wall , Sechzehneichen was awarded the title of beautiful village in the Kyritz district . On July 1, 1973, Sechzehneichen was incorporated into Bantikow .
