Assmannskotten is a residential area in Wermelskirchen in the Bergisches Land . It is located north of Osminghausen and south of Eipringhausen . It is named after a former Kotten of the Assmann family.

The first documentary mention is in 1440. Bertram zom Cotten receives a half guilder levy deferred by Otto Vese, the administrator of the Bornefeld office .

The next mentions are found in 1487 Hans zum Cotten, Rutger syn naber and 1586 Keymer, Teil, Fey, Johan Mey in the relevant tax lists.

For the first time in 1666 a Peter Assmann was named as a participant in the hereditary homage in Ostringhausen . The Kotten is named after this family. According to the treasury and tax books of 1684, Peter Assmann pays one of the highest tax amounts in the Niederhonschaft with 1089 thalers, 11 hellers and eight stüber. In 1740 the estate, now owned by Johan Aßmann, pays 1128 thalers 27 stüber 8 hellers to the Niederhonschaft Wermelskirchen.

In the following years, primarily court proceedings are documented. A trial was brought before the court councilor in Düsseldorf in 1776 . Gottfried Daniel vom Stein named Johan Assmann against the executors of the Sombardt'ischen testament Gebrüder Kersten and Brass, a procedure for a value of a remarkable 14,892 thalers.

On April 8, 1782, the Assman zu Kotten inheritance was divided. Heirs are Adelheid Marg. Assmann, wife of Friedr. Hunter, Franz Arn. Assmann, half, the other half Johannes Assmann and Anna Elis. Assmann wife of Pet. Stone. The latter sell their share to Brother Johannes in exchange for one of the two church seats marked with copper signs and payment of 600 thalers.

In the years 1794–1798 there was a trial at the Higher Appeal Court by Pet. Godf. Dan. v. Stone and Pet. Hölterhoff as guardians of Adelheid Assmann against widow Clarenbachstift and heir Thomas concerning Fideikommissklage from the inheritance of Johann Brass for Gaddemer Good of 1721 and claims to 1/4 share of Kotter good and a native of the Sombart'schen estate 525 Taler instead of.

A will from Franz Arnold Assmann zu Kotten has been preserved from 1811. In advance, Catharina Elisabeth Jäger, who is 1/3 of the inheritance, receives 200 thalers, 1 gold ring with 7 diamonds, 1 tablecloth and 12 napkins with hunting motifs and a feather bed, the seal contains the initials: FAA (Franz Arnold Assmann). Value of the hereditary estate 16,854 francs.

In 1828 the heirs of Mayor Böcker tried to sell the property for 2,774 thalers with a house.
