Humburg hammer

The Humburgshammer was in Wermelskirchen , southwest of the town of Dhünn in the valley of the small Dhünn in North Rhine-Westphalia. It was initially called Carls- or Röttges-Hammer and, after its last owner, Humburgshammer. He went down in the great Dhünntalsperre .

On January 31, 1784, Carl Friedrich Humburg received the concession for the newly built hammer on the Dhünn; he has to pay for this in knowledge, annually two thalers, 60 stüber and four hellers.

On February 25th, Carl Friedr. Humburg and his wife Anna Klein 1000 Taler on their Reckhammer on the small Dhünn, called on Röttgen, by Dr. Brass to the doctor thinner . In 1788 Carl Friedrich Humburg is said to have taken up residence on the Hammer.

In 1807 and 1809, Carl Friedrich Humburg leased 27 acres of land from the Eichholz grand ducal property, for which he pays one thaler and 40 stovers to the Burg winery.

In 1818 the couple first rented out the Humburg to their son Peter Johann Humburg in order to sell him the hammer with 67 acres of land for 24,000 thalers in 1821. In 1823 he bought 30 acres of land from the Eichholz domain in front of notary Pfleger zu Wermelskirchen, which he sold again in 1829.

In the original cadastre from 1828 to 1830, Peter Johann Humburg owns the cadastre article 195, large 67 acres with a house in corridor 6 Parz 254/253. The married couple Peter Johann Humburg and Margarete geb. In 1850, fishermen gave the hammer with the property to their children for usufruct before notary Euler in Wermelskirchen.

At the auction of the estate of Carl Wilhelm Tillmann zu Halzenberg in 1852, two church seats for 70 thalers were given to Carl Humburg, steel manufacturer, Humburg hammer before the notary Zimmermann.

An auction on June 7th and July 26th, 1858, does not seem to have been successful. In 1863, the Humburg heirs sold a house to Carl Aug. Madel in hall 6, plot 253. They also sold the house, the hammer and the bone mill with all its inventory to brother Carl Friedrich Humburg for 3,175 thalers.

Carl Friedrich Humburg 1825–1874

In the same year Carl Friedrich Humburg and his wife Emma Frowein bought the puddling and rolling mill in Wiederstein near Burbach near Neukirchen (Westphalia) for 5000 thalers, which they sold again to various interested parties in 1864 for 8000 thalers.

When the cadastre was rebuilt in 1866, Peter Josef Humburg owns the item 235 large 50 mo house in corridor 6 parcel. Carl Humburg owns article 234 large two acres with the house in corridor 6, parcel 253. Carl Humburg, Osminghausen, has a stake in Frowein 1870's inheritance in Kreckersweg, worth 13,421 thalers.

The estate of Carl Friedr.Humburg was taken up in front of Notary Reichmann in 1874, worth 73,845 thalers. In it the Röttgeshammer with 2800 thalers, a savings book with 1400 thalers, fire insurance policy of the Röttgeshammer for 3100 thalers, a house in Dhünn 150 thalers, a piano 120 thalers, a house clock 20 thalers. Outstanding claims total 70,440 thalers, including the Schaafhausen'sche Bankverein zu Köln 4995 thalers, debts 4665 thalers.

Around 1890 no building is said to have stood on the Humburgshammer.

In 1903 Daniel Häusser planned an extermination facility and fertilizer factory on the Humburgshammer, the plans of which have survived.
