Barenthin is a district of the municipality of Gumtow in the Prignitz district in Brandenburg .

geography

The place is six kilometers south of Gumtow and 31 kilometers southeast of Perleberg . The southernmost district of the municipality of Gumtow has two splinter settlements or residential areas: the Barenthin Abbau , located three kilometers to the northeast, and the Barenthin Expansion , located three kilometers to the southeast . The neighboring towns are Görike and Granzow in the north, Berlitt and Köhnsbau in the east, Kötzlin in the south, and Zichtow in the west.

history

In 1804 the village had 268 inhabitants, had 54 fireplaces and was 34 hooves in size. In addition to 24 whole farmers, six cottagers and 15 residents, a water mill, a forge and 300 acres of wood were part of the village.

On June 30, 2002 Barenthin merged with 15 other municipalities to form the municipality of Gumtow. At that time, 388 residents lived here.
