Zichtow is an inhabited part of the municipality in the district of Bendelin of the municipality of Plattenburg in the Prignitz district in Brandenburg .

geography

The easternmost settlement of the municipality of Plattenburg is 3 kilometers northeast of Bendelin, 12 kilometers east of Plattenburg and 17 kilometers east-southeast of Bad Wilsnack . The place extends on both sides of a county road leading from southwest to northeast. The street and settlement are in the shadow of a mountain range a few 100 meters to the north-west and around 70 meters high. From this ridge, which runs parallel to the location, the terrain clearly slopes towards the southeast until it reaches a damp lowland. The Königsfließ , a right tributary of the Neue Jäglitz, runs here . This body of water forms the border to the neighboring towns in the east and south-east.

The neighboring towns are Söllenthin and Görike in the north, Barenthin in the east, Kötzlin and Karlsruhe in the south, and Netzow in the west.

history

The first written mention is in 1324/41 or 1370/85 in the spelling Sichtow . In 1488/90 the place is documented as to Sightow , 1503 to Sichtow and 1559 as Zichtow.

Around 1804, the place with its six fireplaces and 29 inhabitants belonged to the Plattenburg district of Prignitz and was a parish pasture to “Sölenthin”, which also comprised two graves and a sheep farm. At that time it was owned by Lieutenant von Saldern zu Plasten and the post office in Kletzke served as the address .

In 1816 Zichtow came to the Westprignitz district , which continued to exist as the Westprignitz district from 1939. From 1952, the place belonged to the Perleberg district in the Schwerin district , before becoming part of the Prignitz district on December 6, 1993.

On December 31, 2001, Bendelin merged with seven other communities to form the non-official community of Plattenburg. With this merger, the previous district became an inhabited part of the newly formed community.

Economy and Infrastructure

Over the running through the entire place county road 7003 , he is the just over seven kilometers west location and Havelberg to Pritzwalk leading national highway 107 connected.

The former Gut Zichtow used to have its own rail connection. Via the so-called Zichtower Ochsenbahn there was a connection to Barenthin, just three kilometers to the east. This small connecting line ended at the freight yard of the former Kyritz – Rehfeld – Breddin railway . This stop with a charging station was to the west of the exit from today's district road 7001 in the direction of Kötzlin.
