Groß Leppin is an inhabited part of the municipality in the Glöwen part of the municipality of Plattenburg in the Prignitz district in Brandenburg .

geography

The place is six kilometers south of Kletzke , the seat of the municipality of Plattenburg and 20 kilometers southwest of Perleberg , the seat of the district of Prignitz.

The neighboring towns are Kletzke in the north, Zernikow and Schrepkow in the northeast, Vehlin and Klein Leppin in the east, Schwanensee and Glöwen in the southeast, Storbeckshof in the south, and Plattenburg in the northwest.

history

The first written mention of the place comes from the year 1248. In it he is recorded with the note "in Lepin".

On December 31, 2001, Glöwen merged with seven other communities to form the non-official community of Plattenburg. The previous district of Groß Leppin became an inhabited part of the newly formed community.
