River course

Source rivers

The Jäglitz has two source rivers, which have been listed several times in maps under different names and some of them still are. In current representations of the state survey and geographic base information Brandenburg, the longer source river is called Jäglitz , it flows south from its source in the easternmost part of the district of Heiligengrabe . In older maps this source river is recorded as Kleine Jäglitz .

The second source river was noted in earlier maps under the name Jäglitz and is now called Westliche Jäglitz . Its source is in the Großer Luch , on the boundary between Dannenwalde in the north and Döllen in the south; it flows east. The Great Luch is also drained to the west by the Karthans ; This is why the Western Jäglitz is incorrectly referred to in some maps.

Both source rivers merge three kilometers north of Kyritz near Rüdow and initially flow further south to Plänitz. Here, three kilometers west of Neustadt (Dosse) , the Jäglitz divides into its two estuary arms, the Alte Jäglitz and the Neue Jäglitz .

Muzzle arms

The Neue Jäglitz flows first to the west, then to the south-west, and flows into the Havel at Havelberg opposite from Jeditz , while the Alte Jäglitz flows further south and flows into the (Neue) Dosse at Rübehorst .

The lower reaches of the two Jäglitz arms were diked with the drainage of the Rhinluchs by 1774. Before the dyke was built, the Jäglitz merged with the Dosse near today's location Schwarzwasser to form an inaccessible swamp area, the "Black Water".
