Buildings
The monastery Stift zum Heiligengrabe from the 13th century is considered the best preserved monastery complex in Brandenburg and has been classified as a monument of national importance since 1998. It received special support under Kaiser Wilhelm II. Among other things, the burial chapel was painted in a neo-Gothic style, and the Kaiser donated a large colored church window. This Kaiser window comes from the church painter and mosaicist August Oetken . It shows the abbess Adolphine von Rohr and the emperor handing over the splendid abbess baton newly donated by the latter .
The village church Wernikow was built between 1245 and 1253 and is therefore one of the oldest churches in historic Prignitz . Inside there is an altarpiece from around 1722. During renovation measures in 2011, a consecration seal from the 13th century was found. The monument conservator and building historian Gordon Thalmann describes this as "one of the most spectacular finds of recent north-east German church and state research."
In the district of Jabel there is a village church in the style of the Prussian agricultural school with a remarkable plank truss construction .
The Blumenthal observation tower , which was built between 2003 and 2004, is located in the Blumenthal district . It is the highest wooden observation tower in Germany.
In Blumenthal-Horst, on the grounds of the Burghof estate, there is the ruinous north wing and a polygonal stair tower of the renaissance castle built around 1534 , which fell into disrepair since the 17th century. The baroque manor house built in 1752, the restored inspector's house and remnants of the landscape park created around 1860 have been preserved . Inside the manor chapel, built in 1688, is the tomb of Hans Carl Montang von Blumenthal, who died at the age of five, a work by Johann Gottfried Schadow from 1794. The buildings of the agricultural school built in the 1950s are partly used by Gut Burghof. The “Förderverein Burgbau im Landschaftspark zu Horst e. V. ”tries to preserve the ensemble, which dates back to five centuries.
