Wolfgang Dost (* 1940 ) is a German philologist, local researcher and local politician.

Life

Dost studied German and Slavic studies in Leipzig and Potsdam. In 1975 he received his doctorate with Hans-Joachim Gernentz at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Wilhelm-Pieck-Universität Rostock with the dissertation investigations into the linguistic forms of existence dialect and colloquial language in the Wittstock area including a northern foreland .

Then he worked as a teacher . In 1992 he was a founding member of the Friends of the Gymnasium in Wittstock eV Most recently he was director of the Alte Bischofsburg district lakes with the Museum of the Thirty Years War and the Ostprignitz Museum in Wittstock / Dosse . Dost published on regional history and folklore topics.

Since 2014 he has been a member of the city ​​council of Wittstock / Dosse for the Free Voting Association FWG .

In 2005 he was awarded the Medal of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany . In 2011 he became an honorary citizen of Wittstock / Dosse.
