History and etymology
During excavations, evidence was found in the site that indicates settlement as early as the Bronze Age . In addition, a Slavic castle wall was proven. In the second half of the 13th century, artisans built a village church out of field stones , which the Dehio manual describes as “stately”. In 1463 the place was mentioned for the first time in a loan letter . The name is derived from Slavic and indicates a person Dobrogost . Around 1490 Dabergotz belonged to the Ruppin rule of the Counts of Lindow-Ruppin, which was essentially imperial . In 1491 the spelling changed to Dobbergotz , 1524 to Dobergotz . During the Thirty Years' War , the place was badly devastated, also when the Swedes invaded in 1675. Dabergotz was dominated by agriculture for many centuries. The proximity to Neuruppin was an advantage, because after the great fire of 1787 a brick factory was built in the village .
Dabergotz belonged to the Ruppin rule since the 14th century, to the Ruppin district in the Mark Brandenburg since 1524 and to the Neuruppin district in the GDR district of Potsdam from 1952 . Since 1993 Dabergotz has been in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district in Brandenburg.
